Alongside the T-Type, the DMS is the most important technology in our portfolio. Compared to the classifier, however, the strain gauge uses a much lower upflow speed. This creates a dense fluidized bed with a separation density of 1.8g/cm³, in which the fine or lighter particles orient themselves to the surface and are then separated with the overflow.
In practice, the Dense Medium Separator (DMS) removes approx. 98% of the organic components in the feed up to 1.6 g/cm³. The separation cut can be changed during operation by adjusting the amount of water and setting the trigger point.
The material is fed onto the DMS via a hydrocyclone or by means of a conveyor belt in the free inlet. Typically, the DMS is operated behind a T-Type. This has the advantage that an already pre-classified material (narrow particle size range) (usually 63-250 µm) is fed in and thus a very high yield of light materials is achieved without significant losses in the fine sand range.
As it safely and efficiently processes light materials (wood, organic plastics, etc.), it is often used in the treatment of contaminated soils, harbor sludge or in the recycling of building materials.
